Group Notes

The Lecrin Valley Limpers are not an official walking group, we are just a group of friends who go out for a walk, Even though I usually know where we are going I am not a walk leader, the title of which implies some responsibility for the safety of the group. I try not to plan walks that may be considered dangerous, but paths and tracks do change over time and diversions sometimes have to be taken and accidents can take place anywhere. Also my interpretation of dangerous may be different to yours. You are solely responsible for your own safety, but we all try and look after each other. Water is vital, particularly while out walking in the summer, I know it is heavy but you will die without it. We usually have at least one stop for food, so bring what you require, I know we all enjoy sharing the tapa, but no one wants to share the sandwiches they have lugged up a mountain. In winter warm clothing and water proofs may be required, in the summer sun tan cream and a hat. Walking boots are the preferred form of footwear as they give some much needed support on slippy surfaces. Walks vary in length and difficulty, but you should be able to walk a minimum of 3 hours and there will always be hills to climb. Everyone agrees what a great bunch folk we all are, so if you are thinking of introducing someone to the group try and make sure they will fit in with our friendly easy going ways, most folk will, but we all know the ones who everyone tries to avoid. Your friends over on holiday are welcome, but because we are just a group of friends out for the day, we are not looking for the casual walker on holiday. Starting times are precise, the length, time, and difficulty of the walk are estimated
We usually finish the walk at someone’s house, and everyone brings a plate of food and a drink, what you bring is up to you, but, you will probably not a get a better meal anywhere in Granada. Well behaved dogs are welcome on the walks, but not always for tapa.

Normally you will get an email notification at the beginning of the week advising you about the following Sunday, Some of the comments in the emails are not to taken seriously and in no way are they intended to cause offence, its just our sense of humor.

Finally if something goes wrong it's not my fault.

Re Mortgage

Thanks for the reports on recent activities of the Limpers however along with we many of the UK residents we are very concerned regarding the proposal for increase in fees as this will hit those of us on fixed income particularly hard, may even have to think re-mortgage
As you are aware we are unable to attend so please record our apologies. We would like to recommend that the chairman, social secretary, walk organiser and publicity secretary are all re-elected after doing such a magnificent job over the last year. Can we also propose the same varied programme of walks that we have recently enjoyed catering both members with energy & stamina of mountain goats and the less agile with dickey knees and broken toes.

Fees

I'm hoping to be at the AGM on the 31/12 but if not is the basic annual fee still a tin of mushy peas, a jar of Marmite and a 1lb bag of parsnips with the gold card membership upgrade to include an 80 bag box of Yorkshire tea? Please advise as ryanair are pretty strict on excess baggage.

Membership fees

Sorry to find out mebership fees are going up because of AGM non attendance- would an e-mail link on the night qualify for a concessionary/senior rate?

AGM Unfair

We feel it totally unfair that we will have to pay to re-join the walking club, due to our circumstances, which are out of our control, and feel we have a good case, please put it to the “new secretary” and chairman at the next board meeting!!!

It is has been proposed that all members who attend the Anual General Meeting on the 31st December 2005 at the Masonic Lodge in Chite should receive a further 12 months Free membership of the Lecrin Valley Limpers, members who do not turn up will face a doubling in their fees.

New Year and Christmas

The Sunday walk for 25th December has been cancelled, I have to stay in and entertain guests.
The Annual General Meeting of the LVL will take place 31st December 2005, all members are invited, bring tapa and wine.
