It is has been proposed that all members who attend the Anual General Meeting on the 31st December 2005 at the Masonic Lodge in Chite should receive a further 12 months Free membership of the Lecrin Valley Limpers, members who do not turn up will face a doubling in their fees.

This week we did not have a walk, just a BBQ in Dilar. My personal assistant, Antonia and myself have spent weeks organising this BBQ, we thought we had nailed it down to the finest detail but it still ended in chaos. This is the first time we have had a BBQ in a restaurant, the idea was a good one as we had visited this bar February whilst walking in the area and the tapas was amazing. What we had not taken into account was that the chaotic service we received on our first visit was just a sample of what they could achieve when we went for a meal.  The venue was superb with loads of shade from the trees and a garden like setting. It is close enough to the river to keep the temperature down, it must have been the most refreshing place in Granada. Walk 17th August 2008

Our walk on Sunday was the delightful little stroll from Albúnelas to Restabal, it was advertised as very easy and ending up in a bar. I think I have finally found what motivates people to get out of bed on a Sunday to come on a walk, it is that little 3 letter word "BAR" because this week 12 turned out for the walk. The walk starts in Albuñelas and follows the GR7 path as it meanders down through the campo, to Salares and Restabal. It offers plenty of shade at this time of the year, and the views over our Valley and the Sierra Nevada are wonderful. As we neared Restabal the pace rapidly increased as the prospect of a cool beer became a reality, our planned stop of bar Sifon was dismissed in favour of the new bar Andrea, which I must admit served very tasty tapa. Hi We had a superb walk this week, well it could not really be described as a walk, it was  more of a scramble in a river, and we all got soaked. We had met at Los Mondarinos in Durcal and then driven down to the Rio Durcal picnic area, it’s only a couple of kms but it saves the walk back when it is starting to get warm. You can only do this walk in the summer when the water temperature is high enough, and the volume of water is reduced. The walk starts by following an acequia as it meanders through a cleft in the rocks. If you can take your eyes off the narrow path for a moment and look up it is a truly stunning path. Anywhere else, it would be a tourist attraction, with coach trips and “that will be €5.00 please”.
