Damp and Misty

Image
Dear all from a damp and misty Lecrin valley I would like to thank all the members of the Lecrin Valley Limpers who turned up today for the walk around Pinos del Valle, even though the weather forecast was poor, the views were severely restricted by fog, and there was a good chance we could get wet, 8 members turned up. So I was somewhat disappointed when I arrived in Mondujar, to collect one man and his dog, to discover that instead of going on a walk with friends, he would rather go and have a bubble bath , at the wellness centre in Granada. We are unable for legal reasons to name this man from Mondujar who has a dog called Max. But it transpired later in the day that not only is he trying to discover a new inner self by scrubbing away the old outer shell (in the bubble bath) he also likes to hug and bond with his male friends, he is now looking for new mates in the valley. By way of compensation he sent along a friend called Esther who is looking to move out to the v

Walk in the snow

Dear Limper. Such is the popularity of the Lecrin Valley Limpers that last weekend we had to field 3 teams, with the ladies section being led by Josette for a tour of the almond blossom in the Murchas valley, The A team did a high altitude expeditionary walk into the snow line above Durcal following the line of the Hydro electric pipe. The path is well graded as it zig zags about on the hillside and the top can be reached in about 2 hours. we then followed a contour path on an acequias before returning down a barranco to the car. This path opens up a new area to explore and I feel sure that we will revisit it on many more occasions to explore this rugged area. The third team was led by Arthur and involved exploring the Sunday market in Granada his team members were Olwyn and Githa, it is beyond me and any right thinking male why anyone would want to take these two shopping. The groups reconvened at the Mesquita restaurant for Sunday lunch. The walk this coming Sunday the 12th February

Cold and wet

Hello from a cold and wintry Lecrin Valley What a difference a week makes, last weekend we were all out enjoying the sun, this week we were huddled around Arthur's fire. The planned walk up Silleta had to be postponed for logistical reasons, and the replacement walk to Monachil was cancelled when it started to snow on Saturday afternoon, by Sunday the Valley was under a blanket of snow. To keep spirits up the tapa club met at Arthur's house, Bob delighted us all when he turned up in a pair of bright red trousers. His excuse was because of the snow on the ground he would warm his salopetts up ready for a day on the slopes on Monday. An excellent afternoon was had by all. The walk this coming Sunday is a new one for the group but follows a path, first discovered by Nick and Carol using Google Earth. The walk starts off above Durcal and follows the line of the Hydro Electric pipe up the hill to the summit of Penon de Granada then continuing along the ridge before dropping back dow

Cancelled walk

Dear Limper Due to the very cold, wet, snowy, windy, foggy weather. Put together whatever combination you fancy because we are having the lot, the walk to Monachil is cancelled. Val's Birthday party and Tapa is still on at Arthur's house, Chite from 2 pm Sunday. Regards Stuart
