Damp and Misty

Dear all from a damp and misty Lecrin valley
I would like to thank all the members of the Lecrin Valley Limpers who turned up today for the walk around Pinos del Valle, even though the weather forecast was poor, the views were severely restricted by fog, and there was a good chance we could get wet, 8 members turned up. So I was somewhat disappointed when I arrived in Mondujar, to collect one man and his dog, to discover that instead of going on a walk with friends, he would rather go and have a bubble bath, at the wellness centre in Granada. We are unable for legal reasons to name this man from Mondujar who has a dog called Max. But it transpired later in the day that not only is he trying to discover a new inner self by scrubbing away the old outer shell (in the bubble bath) he also likes to hug and bond with his male friends, he is now looking for new mates in the valley. By way of compensation he sent along a friend called Esther who is looking to move out to the valley in August.
The walk around Pinos normally affords good views of the lower reaches of the Lecrin valley but today we had to be content with the Almond trees appearing out of the mist in a riot of glorious colour. After the walk we met Mr Huggy and his wife at Bar Jovi for tapa and lunch. We have arranged with Jose at Bar Jovi that in future, if we give him 24 hours notice, he will arrange vegetarian food in the restaurant.
The next planned walk on the 19th of February returns to an area we visited a few weeks ago when we went up Cumbres Verde. This time, instead of trying to find a route back to the starting point by the Restaurant, we will park further up the road and take the path we walked along last time, but follow it around as it climbs up to the peak of Cerro Gordo and then down to the Siete Ojos bridge. The walk should take about four and half hours and involves climbing some 440 meters, This is an exploratory walk on some unknown paths so no guarantees given as to level of difficulty.
The doors to the after walk tapa club will open at our house in Chite at 4 pm, all members welcome even if you can't manage the walk. If you want to go on the walk meet at the Acropolis bar Mondujar at 9.30.
The weather this past week has been very nice except for Sunday, the forecast for the coming week is excellent. The Almond blossom in the valley is now in full swing and the Olives are ready for picking.
