Walk Sunday 15 October 2017 Dilar

On Sunday we did a circular walk from Dilar. It was a mixed walk, a steep climb, high mountains and an opportunity to get wet.
It was a bit chilly when we met up for the start of the walk from the river side car park in Dilar. It wasn’t worth putting a fleece on because I knew that within 10 minutes, when the climb started, things would soon warm up.
Sure enough as soon as the climb started we came out of the shade and into the sun, it was like someone had turned on the heater. Not that we needed the sun now to keep warm, as the climb was 400 metres straight up the steep side of Boca de la Pesca. There were no prizes for getting to the top and everyone just took it at their own pace. The last couple of times I have been up this path I have ended up collapsing in a heap at the top. This time, with Dave carrying a defibrillator and walking alongside me, every time I showed signs of flagging he would give me a cardio shock, it worked wonders, I made it to the top with energy to spare. After a short break at the casita at the top of the hydro electric tubo we continued with the walk along the ridge over looking down the Rio Dilar.
At the Sevilla car park we stopped for first lunch then started our descent down to the Rio Dilar. The way back follows the river, well most of the time it seems to be spent in the river. Some of the group accepted that they were going to get wet feet and waded across the it, others thought they could make it to the end with dry feet. They were wrong. They tried jumping from rock to rock but to no avail. They still ended up with wet feet. Unfortunately for Elsa she got more than wet feet when she slipped and fell in the river. She must have chosen the deepest spot because it looked like she had been swimming in it.
The bar in the carpark appears to be closed for the winter and we have never found another suitable one in the area. So we all went home for a nice cup of tea instead.

It was a great walk, some even described it as the best Limper walk ever.

We walked 15.4 km and climbed 570 metres
