The battle for Murchas castle Sunday 21 January 2018

This week a very important event took place in the valley. Our castle in Murchas was reconquered from the the bad people of Melegis. Over the centuries, the castle has offered sanctuary and protection from the marauding hordes of peasants and scavengers who have roamed the surrounding hills and valleys, always in search of a better life. A life the people of the higher villages have always rightfully claimed. Even to this day they are envious of our high speed fiber optic internet and rapid motorway connections. In 2017  whilst we were all down on beach enjoying sangria and tapas the castle was overrun and captured by the bad people. Our once magnificent castle was ransacked and left in ruins. The 21st of January 2018 will go down in history as the day when justice was done. After a fierce bloody battle the castle was retaken and returned to the rightful guardians, the good people of Lecrin.
The walk started with 21 people from the Blue bar in Melegis, we returned a few hours later with 12. I have never before seen such a high attrition rate. I was expecting to lose a few in the coming battle but not to this extent.
Both sides proceeded in good spirits to the castle where we had arranged for the battle to take place. Both sides were armed to the teeth with swords, daggers and machetes. The invaders were soon overwhelmed by the sheer force of numbers.
After the battle the walk proceeded to Murchas where we stopped for a bite to eat at the new mirador. Resuming our walk things soon started to go downhill. Two decided to return home. Three went walkabout and had to be rescued by Fernando. In Chite we lost two more when they smelt coffee when we passed their houses. Further down the valley three more took a shortcut back to the bar. With our depleted numbers we followed the path by the side of the dam back to Melegis.

In the afternoon we went around to Perry’s for tapas and to help him celebrate becoming an official VOG.
