Walk Sunday 18 October 2015 Boca de la Pesca

Hi
This week we had planned to do a circular walk around Cerro Huenes above Cumbres Verde, the walk we had postponed from the week before. The problem was the weather forecast, it was predicting rain but they had been saying that all week and nothing came of it, so we went armed with a couple of backup plans.
Setting of from Cozvijar to drive to Cumbres Verde the weather looked promising with high broken cloud and some sunshine but by the time we arrived the clouds were gathering around the hills and it looked like we might get wet if we stayed out too long.
I decided to put plan C into action, this was a circular walk to Boca de la Pesca and there were  lots of possibilities to shorten the route if conditions deteriorated.
We had not been walking long when we came to a chain across the farm track we were on, and a notice saying “No pasar”, or you will be shot. Now we have done this walk a number of times in the past and we have never seen the notice, mind, we have always done it the other way around. After consulting with Rafa we decided to continue along the path and commit  a mass trespass, there were 19 of us, he could not shoot us all. We also made Rafa an honorary Englishman so we could legitimately claim ¨no comprendemos¨.
The walk continued up past the farm with no problem and no sign of the bodies of countless previous walkers.
With the weather remaining dry and the cloud lifting a bit we continued the climb up to Boca de la Pesca. The views from up here are stunning, it’s a full 360 degree panoramic delight, for not much effort. With all the climbing over we headed off to the Sevilla carpark, where we stopped for lunch at some picnic tables, and then back to Cumbres Verde. We stopped at the la Guitarra restaurant for refreshment before heading off home.
The weather remained dry for the walk and the clouds lifted from peaks on our original route but never mind, we still had a good walk and we can save the other one for another day.

We walked 10.9 km and climbed 443 metres.
