Walk Sunday 15 March 2015 Mondújar castle.

This Sunday was a big birthday celebration for me,  well, officially it wasn’t until the Monday but what is a day after waiting 65 years to finally get some money back from the government.
To kick off the big event we started with a coffee at the Finity bar in Talara. A great way to start the day, there were a few complaints when I finally suggested that we make a move and go for the walk. I think some would have been happy to stay there all day.
We proceeded in a long line to walk up to Mondújar castle. I don’t think the castle has had so many people in it since Mully Hacen was there.
After some extensive research I had discovered a new route, down into a steep sided valley by the side of the castle. What I did not know about was a hidden secret spring that runs in a tunnel excavated by the Moors. The secret would have remained if a very kind man, working on his Finca, had not invited us to have a look. The water feeds into a crystal clear pool he has just built. With Almond blossom petals floating on the surface even Plym was tempted to paddle in it.
Our walk continued with some more climbing until we finally came to a path heading down hill and back in the direction of Talara.
Antonio, the landlord at the Finity bar, had prepared some special birthday tapas for us which we eagerly consumed when we returned to the bar for drinks.
In the afternoon we all went round to Plym and Tony’s to continue the celebrations. I have got to say an enormous THANK YOU to everyone who turned up with such delicious food and especially for the Birthday present. Also special thanks to Plym and Tony for stepping in at the last moment and hosting the event, and to John who entertained us with his Guitar and the new Limper marching song he sang for us.
It was a great day and I am now officially an old git.

We walked 9.4 km and climbed 444 metres.
