Albunuelas walk

Dear Limper
Well, the good weather finally arrived for our walk last Sunday, so while the rest of Europe was blanketed under snow we were basking in glorious hot sunshine. The walk was a circular one from Albunuelas, and involved going down into the ravine and crossing the Rio Soto and climbing up the opposite bank onto the plateau, whilst the climb was steeper than some had expected I don't think that anybody could be unimpressed by the spectacular views the climb afforded and in time the only memory will be of the snow covered peak of Caballo sticking out above the Almond blossom and not the stiff legs. It was at this point that Alan, who we had welcomed back into the group after his extended tour of Australia, went on walkabout again, and it was about 1 hour later that he reappeared, we are now looking for one of those extendable type dog leads that will enable him to wander off but we will be able to reel him in when he gets too far in front. We would also like to re welcome Haley who has finally made the move to the valley and is now living in little Britain Chite. The local bars are on a 3 day week now that Mark has to stop in and get the house finished. On our return to Albunuelas we went to John and Marion's for Tapa and also to inspect the extension they are having done to the house, he is still under the mistaken impression that the house will be done to budget and be on time. We have now found Arthur's weakness, it is trifle, He was found on more than one occasion nipping back for seconds.
The A team are having a mid week walk up to the pumping station above Durcal to explore the paths up there.
The walk this coming Sunday is a walk suitable for all grades and revisits the area above Cumbres Verde that we went on a few weeks ago, this time we will try and park nearer the start of the walk so cutting down on the time spent walking on the road. The walk follows a level path with spectacular views over Granada (subject to weather conditions, the weather forecast is for rain on Sunday) before turning up hill and coming back over the top of Cerro Gordo, it is at this point the group will split, with the masochists taking the hard route and anyone else returning the way they have come. Because of the split nature of the walk the tapa club will not be held this week. Please meet at 9.30 at the Acropolis bar in Mondujar.
