The Travenque round

Dear Limper
What a week we have had here in the valley, With heavy rain last Monday and Tuesday the Limpers were forced to console themselves with a trip to Salobrena on Tuesday evening to a restaurant newly discovered by John and Marion, called Betty Blues and up by the castle, it is a little gem, with a refreshingly varied menu, delightful surroundings and a chef who keeps checking you are enjoying the food, it comes highly recommended, and I feel sure we will be back to sample more food in the near future.
On Wednesday the A team went out on a mission to find new paths in the Sierra de Hueter Parque Natural a few kilometres outside Granada on the Guadix road. Even though we had to endure poor visibility and damp conditions we were able to ascertain that the parque offers good walking opportunities and will be featured in forth coming programs shortly.
One member of the Lecrin Limpers has been pressing us for a while to find the location of a jazz bar in Granada, so on Wednesday evening we went to a great deal of effort to find said bar. So for anyone interested we now know the location, details on request.
By Friday the heavy rain sodden skies had lifted and on Sunday the sun shone in a clear blue ski, so we packed our bags and returned to the hills above Cumbres Verdes for an excellent walk around Cerro del Trevenque (or as it has become known in the valley the Milton Refusal) In the guide book the walk is described as 14km and easy. Judging by the comments and curses emanating from the back markers there may well have been a misprint. I may not have helped the situation by suggesting that half way round the walk there was a bar selling ice cold beer, this turned out to be a mirage, and resulted in further curses aimed my way. After the walk we went to Paco's in Cozvijar for an tapa.
The walk this coming weekend is on Saturday 1st April, This is to fit in with John and Sandra's return to the valley on holiday. John was initially involved with jointly developing many of the walks that have become favourites with the group, one he wanted to do but we never got around to, was from Lanajaron back into the valley. The walk initially leaves Lanjaron on the GR7 route heading up hill back towards Niguelas before turning off in the direction of Talara, the walk is about 11km long and involves about 500 meters of climb and should take about 4.5 hours. The after walk tapa club will convene at our house in Chite once we have recovered the cars from Lanajaron.
Meet in Chite at 9.30 before we drive to Lanjaron.
Can I apologise once again if you have received a blank email from me either this week or on previous occasions, I do not know why the problem occurs it only happens whilst sending the news letter out. More photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/lecrin-valley-limpers/
