Walk around Albunuelas

Dear Limp member
Well, the good weather we had been promised at the beginning of the week did not materialise on Sunday morning, after a night of heavy rain we awoke to howling gale force winds and a marked drop in temperatures. So it was somewhat of a surprise that anybody was fool enough to actually turn up at the appointed time. So with eight members suddenly finding a pressing reason for staying indoors and hugging the fire, four hardy souls wrapped in hats, scarves and gloves took to the paths and trails around Melegis. The chosen route was the recently discovered path from Melegis to Conchar. This quiet little known path is an absolute delight, having everything a walker desires, views, water and woods. So it was somewhat disconcerting to find that, in the 5 days since the paths discovery, some graffiti artist had come along and sprayed bright red arrows on every available tree, stone, and plastic pipe, whether it was nailed down, cemented down or just laying down, in an attempt to way mark the path. We could not understand why anyone should go to so much trouble for such a small unassuming path, nor could we understand why we should see a coach winding its way down into Conchar. We soon found out the answer to both questions when we made our return journey back along the path. A party of about 60 French walkers was discovered picking their way through the under growth. I do hope they managed to follow all the arrows even the ones that may have got knocked as we passed by. For all that the weather was not very promising when we set off, the walk was enjoyable and there was always the tapa to look forward to upon our return. It is a good job that Arthur only lives around the corner from us, because even though he turned up with an excellent bread and butter pudding he forgot to bring the wine. I did offer to sell him a bottle, but he turned down my magnanimous offer and returned home for not one, but two bottles. He would also like it to be made public that it was I, not he, that finished all the tapa off.
The walk this coming Sunday is from Albunuelas and is a circular walk that has been surveyed and will be led by John and Marion. The tapa club will convene back at their house afterwards. The walk is scheduled to last about 3,5 hours and is not considered too difficult. Meet at the main car park as you go into Albunuelas at 10am. Hopefully this coming Sunday we will have good weather.
