Lecrin Valley Limper Dear all To get over last weeks hard walk and to rest the group up in preparation for the attempt of the summit of Mulhacen, all we had arranged was a very easy stroll and a picnic, so a full turn out was expected. So it was slightly worrying when at the appointed meeting place and hour, there were at least 7 missing. From past experience we knew something terrible must have gone wrong, as they would never pass up on a picnic. Little John´s group had got delayed by a misplaced telephone request for a pickup. While they were correcting this, they came across Rob and Sandy, who some of you may know as Hanna, or Barbara, I thought it was only on the Costa del Sol , that people went under different names ! Rob and Sandy, who have had a difficult week with in-laws visiting them, decided to meet us some place where the rest of us weren’t. This week we did not have a walk, just a BBQ in Dilar. My personal assistant, Antonia and myself have spent weeks organising this BBQ, we thought we had nailed it down to the finest detail but it still ended in chaos. This is the first time we have had a BBQ in a restaurant, the idea was a good one as we had visited this bar February whilst walking in the area and the tapas was amazing. What we had not taken into account was that the chaotic service we received on our first visit was just a sample of what they could achieve when we went for a meal.  The venue was superb with loads of shade from the trees and a garden like setting. It is close enough to the river to keep the temperature down, it must have been the most refreshing place in Granada. Padul and the Roman Road

Dear all After a week of bitter cold temperatures, snow and heavy rain, it was with some trepidation that we set off on our Sunday walk under heavy grey skies accompanied by a strong head wind, which eventually worked in our favour by blowing the clouds away, leaving us all sweating under the multi layers of clothing that we were all wearing. The walk eventually started from the centre of Padul, after a misunderstanding as to where we were supposed to meet, and set off across the unbelievable flat farm land that was once the bed of a lagoon. As soon as you arrive at the other side, the banking surrounding the lagoon rises steeply and it was amongst this jumble of rocks that the remains of a Roman road could be found. This is not a sample of the long, straight, well constructed Roman roads that you can still find in Britain.
