Walk Sunday 2 December 2018 Sierra Manar

This week we went walking in the Sierra Manar, the range of hills behind Dilar.  The walk had been postponed from a few weeks back when it was raining every day, it’s not a walk to do when the ground is wet and muddy. The weather forecast for this Sunday was for sunshine and temperatures of 21 degrees, perfect walking conditions.  The walk starts from the Ermita Nueva and heads up a gentle slope through Olive trees.  After 1 km the path follows the tree line on what at first looks like a level track. It soon becomes apparent that it’s not level at all, but a series of switchbacks with steep ups and downs.  There were only 9 in the group, and we all walked together, chatting and enjoying the warm sunshine. Nobody thought to check that we all turned onto a path into the forest. 24th September Restabal

Dear Limper It is with deep regret that I have to announce that this coming weekend the 1st of October there will be no organised Limper walk. This is due to an expected hangover on the Sunday morning. Our walk this week from Albunuelas to Restabal was a great success the weather was ideal, deep blue skies, warm sunshine and a tail wind. The walk is a linear one and so involves having enough cars to transport everyone to Albunuelas and leaving something behind so that the drivers can return later to retrieve them. With 18 Limpers turning out it was obviously too much for our logistics manager and it was a disorganized rabble who made their way to the start of the walk. From Albunuelas the walk follows the GR7 path, (the second time in 2 weeks that we have been on a section of the GR7 at this rate we have only got another 3000 km to go and we will have done it all) all the way through the campo land down to Saleres before crossing the Rio and continuing into Restabal, wh...

Walk 2 April 2017 Bermejales

Our walk this week was our big adventure walk to Bermejales. It was advertised as suitable for anyone between 8 and 80. Well we hit both criteria, we had young David, Maria Jose’s son at 8 years and old Jim who was reclassified from viejo to anciano by some Spanish kids he met on the walk and, according to Conchi, you have to be really old for that. We all met in Bermejales and this was where the complicated bit set in. The walk is a linear one and, whilst you could walk there and back along the same path, walking back against the flow of the other walkers would take forever as there are a number of choke points along the way. Another reason for following the river downhill is that the walk just gets better the further you go. Our solution is to take some cars to the end of the walk so that we can drive back at the end.
